Who is my ISP?
Your internet service provider (ISP) is the company that connects you to the internet and routes your traffic. Every public IP address belongs to a network operator, so we can look up which organization owns the block your address falls in — in your case, Amazon Data Services Northern Virginia (AS14618).
What is an ASN?
An ASN (Autonomous System Number) uniquely identifies a network
on the global internet — for example an ISP, hosting company, or large enterprise.
Every public IP is announced by exactly one ASN, which is how routers worldwide
know where to send your traffic. Yours is shown above as AS14618.
Why might the ISP shown be unexpected?
- VPN or proxy: you'll see the VPN provider's network, not your home ISP.
- Mobile data: carriers often route through regional or wholesale networks.
- Business / campus networks: traffic may exit through an upstream provider's ASN.
