Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-18
This Cookie Policy explains how ipchu.com uses cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They help a site
remember settings, keep sessions secure, or measure how the site is used. We also use
localStorage — a browser feature that stores data locally without
sending it to our servers on each request.
What we use
Strictly necessary (ipchu.com)
ipchu.com does not set tracking cookies. We use two
localStorage entries on your device only:
theme— remembers your light or dark colour preference.cookie_ok— records that you dismissed the cookie notice so it is not shown again.
These entries are stored in your browser, not on our servers, and are not shared with third parties.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage — page views,
session duration, and the country visitors connect from. GA4 may set cookies such as
_ga and _ga_* to distinguish sessions. Google collects a
truncated IP address and processes data under its own
Privacy Policy.
You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings.
Infrastructure (Cloudflare)
ipchu.com is served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may set short-lived
cookies (for example __cf_bm) to protect against bots and abuse. These are
set by Cloudflare, not by ipchu.com, and are governed by
Cloudflare's Cookie Policy.
Why we use them
- To remember your display preferences (theme).
- To avoid showing the cookie notice on every visit.
- To measure how the site is used so we can improve it.
- To keep the service secure and available via our CDN.
We do not use cookies for advertising or to sell your data.
Managing cookies
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear localStorage at any
time through their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect theme persistence and will
cause the cookie notice to reappear. Blocking Google Analytics cookies will not affect
core IP lookup functionality.
For browser-specific guidance, see aboutcookies.org.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page when our use of cookies changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
